Comparison: Surfable and other top website builders' sites Google PageSpeed score

When navigating even the deepest oceans of the internet, speed matters. While many users may not consciously be aware that speed is a critical factor that determines their level of interaction with a website, research indicates otherwise.

  1. The average user expects a website to load in 3 seconds
  2. 53% of visitors will abandon a website if it takes more than 3 seconds to load
  3. The average website takes 7 seconds to load

For website owners leveraging their online presence to attract more customers and generate revenue, speed needs to be a priority, and that’s reflected in a website’s page speed score.

There are several vendors to choose from in the website building arena. The most popular options heavily focus on enabling customers to build beautiful, visually engaging websites that are highly customizable and reliable. What is often overlooked, however, is what they can deliver from a website speed and performance perspective – something we, at Surfable, prioritize as mission critical for our customers. In fact, our technology is designed to help websites deliver a lightning fast experience by equipping website owners with an open-source platform that thrives off real-time technology.

Determining the speed and power website builders can deliver is tricky because of the large number of customers they have scattered across a variety of industries. To understand how some of the top website builders’ perform, we used Google PageSpeed Insights (https://developers.google.com/speed/pagespeed/insights/) to evaluate each of their own websites’ page speed scores.

We looked at the following website builder platforms:

  1. Squarespace
  2. Wix
  3. Wordpress
  4. Shopify
  5. Surfable

In both tests, Surfable ranked with the top page speed score, validating our commitment to speed and page speed optimization. Surfable’s performance can be partially attributed to the fact that its supporting technology is built on Erlang, a programming language used to build massively scalable soft real-time systems with requirements on high availability. And Surfable is the only website building platform to offer this.

While the value proposition of each website building platform may vary, website owners cannot ignore the significance of speed. At Surfable, our first priority is enabling customers to deliver an incredible online experience with lightning fast websites. Our surfer community brings web professionals together to collaborate and innovate on ways to change the future of the internet for the better.
